About the Mid-Atlantic Independent League

MIL Background & Philosophy

The MIL was formed in 2003.  The league began under the name Maryland Independent League but changed its name in late 2005 to Mid-Atlantic Independent League to better represent the schools involved and to attract other schools from the region.  Member schools have small enrollment sizes.  Membership is open to all independent or public institutions that have similar philosophies, structure and outlook as the current member schools.

League Philosophy

The Mid-Atlantic League was founded to create a small competitive environment for small schools in which to play. We believe that interscholastic athletics helps facilitate life long traits such as leadership, collaboration, and teamwork.  As such, the league stresses the importance of good sportsmanship and attitude both on and off of the playing court/field.  Our league motto is:

Let the Players Play,

 Let the Coaches Coach,

Let the Spectators be positive.
